Jonathan Small

Canadian by birth, Italian by upbringing, I grew up on a wine and olive oil farm in the countryside. My love for sailing began at 12 during Italian summer camps and deepened after discovering Tom Perkins’ story and the iconic Maltese Falcon. A lifelong passion for yachts was sparked—fuelled by sketching boats as a child and subscribing to Yachting magazine before I could tie my first knot. After studying at
Montreal’s ITHQ Hotel School, I launched a yachting career, blending sailing skills with hospitality. Six years at sea led to a pivot into real estate with Sotheby’s in Quebec and later Barnes in Paris, where I honed client relations and service excellence. Now, at BARNES Yachting, I bring my unique journey full circle—uniting a love of yachts, luxury, and exceptional experiences.
